2019 Vintage Updates

In 2019, weather conditions were pretty ideal with cool days in the mid 80s and classic cool Russian River Valley nights. With rains late in the season, we used canopy management to achieve acid driven beautiful fruit. The Pinot Noir from the 2019 vintage was dark, rich, deep, and exactly what you would want in a Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.

Barrel Future Deals

Featured Barrel:

2019 Estate Double Barrel, Pinot Noir

This is the first ever vintage of the Estate Double Barrel and will be the newest wine in our Estate collection. Despite being a new addition, the Estate Double Barrel has a rich history. The blend includes grapes from two of our estate lots, Balistreri Estate Vineyards, which was planted in 1999, and Austin Estate Vineyards, which was planted in 2005. Anthony Austin & Gio selected the best two new french oak barrels they could find and blended them together. The wine was aged in 100% new french oak and just 50 cases will be bottled of this wine. In addition, the bottle for this wine will have a, one of a kind, hand painted image.

The texture of the Estate Double Barrel is velvet. On the palette the oak is layered in like a braid of hair, woven so tightly together, seamlessly. The fruit is extremely concentrated with a tremendous complexity producing dark, deep, rich flavors. This is a wine that will age well and can stay in the cellar for years and years to come.

2020 Oaked Chardonnay,

Petersen Vineyard

This wine is the big sister to the Stainless Steel Petersen Chardonnay. This wine is going to see 14 months in about 38% new french oak. There are tropical notes similar to the stainless steel chardonnay but you will see the integration on the french oak come shining through. Lots of tones of vanilla, which compliment the tropical lemon notes. The acid is nice and bright which is very consistent with the Sebastopol Hills neighborhood.

2019 Owl's Watch Syrah

This beautiful Syrah shows off aromas of sweet tobacco and forest berries, roasted figs on the palate with a toasted silky smooth finish.Tannin integration, minimal oxidation, big bold wines need a long time to age in the barrel.  Texture and structure are aligning and softening up. Rich, concentrated, and smoky notes. This vineyard is 8 acres in size, situated in the city of Sebastopol. Syrah is a late bloomer which leads to late harvesting, which worked out great for the 2018 vintage.  Picking this vineyard late in the season allows for extended hang time, great ripe characteristics.

2019 Emma's Estate Pinot Noir,

Emma's Vineyard

Emma’s Vineyard lies just 11 miles from the Pacific Ocean on a West-facing hillside. This makes for a beautifully elegant wine, with a bright acidity and rich fruit. It also possesses a delightful minerality, which balances out the acidity. The flavors that pop out on the pallete are pure cherry pie with a ginger graham cracker crust, hint of orange bitters with almost 80% new oak. One would expect this to be a barnstorming bruiser, but it’s remarkably composed. The flavors are lush and the whole package just works beautifully.

2019 Red Blend Confluence

Confluence is defined as a joining or coming together. And it aptly describes this wine in both flavor and spirit. A rich, lush red wine with big but not overpowering tannins, this wine is a blend of 70% Zinfandel, 20% Petite Sirah, 5% Syrah, & 5% Alicante Bouche. It is characterized by ripe rich flavors and soft elegant tannins with hints of leather and spice. It pairs perfectly with steak and other rich, fatty foods. Cigar smokers and Cabernet fans will love this wine, a blend that is bold but approachable.

2019 Austin Estate Pinot Noir,

Austin Vineyard

This is a wine for those who truly appreciate Pinot Noir. From the Austin Estate Vineyard, planted in 2005 by our Winemaker's predecessor & mentor, RRV Consulting Winemaker Anthony Austin. The result is a spectacular Pinot Noir with uncommon complexity and nuance. This is an elegant, layered, and exquisitely balanced wine that can be enjoyed now or aged up to 15 years. This pinot noir is feminine in style, balanced, elegant, and fruit forward. One would describe it as lush, soft, and sleek with a lasting finish.
